My idea for this piece came to me during my bouts with insomnia. When facing sleep disorders it seemed that I was always looking for this passage way into the dream world. A way out of reality. It was as if I had lost the key to the doorway to my dreams. I realized eventually there is no door between the Dream world and the awake world that we make are reality. There really is no difference between the two worlds, both are just different aspects of are personal conciseness. How can one be so sure that a dream is real, until the moment you wake up and realize you were sleeping. Although the concept could drive one mad. I was looking for this contentment, before sleep as if I was preparing myself to enter this new universe, when I may have been in this universe already. |

For the piece it self I found a door and built a foundation out of old stones. Taking an old hand saw I began to saw the door in half, stopping half way symbolizing the realization that the door leads no where. By turning away and walking the opposite way you will be in the same place as to what ever was on the other side of the passage. |
